Established in 1988, Auckland UniServices’ Intellectual horsepower is the University of Auckland (one of the top 50 universities in the world). UniServices manages all of the University's of Auckland commercial research forms new business ventures based on University research and owns and develops the University's intellectual property estate.
UniServices have been involved with 13 compounds that have entered the clinic in oncology, neurology and metabolic disorders.
With revenue in 2007 of over US$63m, UniServices directly employ over 600 staff. UniServices has started 23 new companies in New Zealand, United States and United Kingdom based on new knowledge developed at the University, with current market capitalization of over US$500m. UniServices has had successful research and licensing agreements with global leaders such as Novartis, Roche, Pfizer, Genentech and Antisoma.
